INSTITUTE'S OFFICERS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday The election of an honorary fellow and an honorary overseas member was completed at the annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. The honorary New Zealand fellow is Mr Thomas Horton, of Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, and the overseas member is Sir William Wright Smith, of Edinburgh. The conference elected the following officers: President, Mr F. S. Pope; vice-presidents, Messrs T. L. Lancaster (Auckland), T. Horton (Taranaki), C. W. Corner (Hawke's Bay). P. Black (Palmerston North), J. G. Mackenzie (Wellington), Sir Theodore Rigg (Nelson), Messrs J. A. McPherson (Canterbury). D. Tannock (Otago), Sir R. A. Anderson (Southland) ; executive committee, Mrs Knox Gilmer, Professor H. B. Kirk, Dr. W. R. B. Oliver, Dr. H. 11. Allan (honorary botanist), Messrs A. H. Cockayne, J. A. Campbell, T. Waugh, W. K. Dallis, W. C. Hyde, W. S. Mason, T. C. Brash, H. J. Poole, F. J. Shanks, A. McMillan and E. Hutt; honorary auditor, Mr J. L. Arcus. It was decided to ask the Government to give serious consideration to the early establishment of the school of horticulture already recommended. /
