BACK TO SCHOOL.

TEACHERS RESUME WORK. PREPARATION FOR THE YEAR. After an extended vacation of nearly ten weeks the staffs of the Hamilton schools resumed duty yesterday to prepare for the return of the pupils next week. Despite the fact that there were no full classrooms the teachers will have a busy week in complying with the Minister’s order a fortnight ago “to make thorough preparations for the work of the new year.” In the secondary schools and primary schools yesterday schemes were evolved for launching the year's education programme next week.

In Hamilton the staffs met to discuss the syllabuses for the new year; class lists were prepared and a general coordination of the programme wag commenced. As this work usually keeps the teaching staff of the schools back late each afternoon, the chance to complete a considerable portion of It prior to the opening of the schools Is welcome to the majority of the teachers.

At the Hamilton High School enrolments are being made steadily ant It is expected by the actin«-headmaater, Mr H. D. Tail, that a fair number of new pupils will assemble next Monday.

jrhere have been no staff changes at the Hamilton Technical College and enrolments are proceeding apace. About 190 new day pupils have been enrolled to date. The headmaster, Mr W. Fraser, said to-day that several of last year’s pupils had obtained positions as there was considerable work offering in Hamilton at present. For the first time this year the night classes at the Technical High School will commence on the same date as the day school. The night classes never commence before March and the opening date has nofc been altered this year.
