RIOHMOND DOWNS EVENING On Friday evening a large gathering hi friends assembled in the Richmond Downs schoolromn at a snrial held In honour of Mr and Mrs Kirk, smz, \\'hu Ire retiring Irvin the district to reside In .\lon‘insville. A ouehre tournanir‘nt \\a‘ played. Mrs Kirk winning iiinx ladies" prize and Mr G. \Vatson the men‘s prize Consolation prizes were awarded in Miss G. Holmes and .\lr Newcomhe. After slipper Mr L. E. Cooke. in a happy speech. referred to the many good qualities of Mr .md .\irs Kirk. and on behalf or the many friends present asked them to accept a gift. of two beautiful rug-s. Mr Kirk suitably responded. and all Joined in singing “For They are Jolly Good Fellows.“ after which dancing was continued. Novelty dance-s were won by Mrs Scott and Mr Jones. and Miss Howard Ind .\ll‘ Jones. )[r L. E. Lloolm was M.C. Excellent music was provided by Mrs Dodd and Mr Jones \accor—deon). A very happy evening closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Sync.“ _—
