THE PRAYER BOOK.

CONSIDERED OUT OF DATE. WILL HAVE TO BE REVISED. LONDON, January 22. The Book of Common Prayer, of which there are millions of copies in use all over the world, has become out of date on the death of King George. The prayers for the Royal Family and some of the supplications in the Litany will have to be revised. The Privy Council will decide what changes shall be made, and It is expected that, before the Coronation of King Edward VIII., new Prayer books will be on sale. Only three printers in Britain print the Book of Common Prayer. They are Eyres and Spottisw-oode, the Oxford University Press, and the Cambridge University Press. Sir Humphrey Milford, publisher to the University of Oxford, told the Daily Express last night:— “Pages carrying the corrections will be inserted into the books we have in stock, and extensive new printings will be made.”
