BOXING DAY PREPARATION SEMI-FINAL GALLOPS. PLATO WORKS IMPRESSIVELY. DIATOMOUS’ FINE EFFORT. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Saturday. With the exception of light misty rain about halfway through work before the breakfast interval, the weather was fine Tor training at Ellerslie this morning. The course proper with the poles 55ft. out from the rails was used and some smart efforts were recorded, those to please most among the Cup horses being Kelly, Gay Broney, Argentic and Kiltowyn, while among the sprinters Diatomous, Plato, Fracas, Royal Secret and Legatee impressed most. The going was excellent. On the course proper Impasto was first to work and with a good weight up reeled off six furlongs In 1.20 4-5. He finished on well. Variant and her stablemate Roaming, went off slowly rrom the seven rurlong post and ran home In 1.36. They Increased the pace from the five furlong post to run the last hair-mlle In 55 2-ss, with Variant doing the better at the finish. Gay Broney and Vera Acre were just In front or Argentic at the finish but the last named was going well within hlmseir and could have done better. Wild Chase and Pelmet. The southern two-year-olds, Wild Chase and Pelmet were associated over hair-a-mlle run In 51 3-ss. Bullfight registered 1.34 for seven furlongs. Royal Appellant and Teddy Boy were on terms arter traversing: seven furlongs In 1.37. Royal Appellant was doing It nicely at the end) Moquette was just In rront or Gay Chief at the conclusion of lialf-a-mlle in 52 2-ss. Moquette did her work well but Gay Chief was being kicked up at the finish. Kiltowyn worked alone over a mile and arter running the first half In 51 2-ss, finished the task In 1.45 4-5. It was a useful effort and he could have reduced his time. Kelly as usual carried a light weight but be was on the outside and very wide out at times. A Useful Performance. On Parade went away from the mile post and came home In 1.47 4-5. He carried a good weight and It was a userui performance. Hest ran half-a-mlle In 52 3-ss. The daughter or Hunting Song Is a very nice mover and should get some money at the meeting. She was kicked out at the finish but still it was a smart effort. After schooling King Mestor and Tea Chat were allotted strong work over seven rurlongs. taking 1.3 S to complete the task. The two-year-old Master Vaals finished in rront or Free Advice at the end or half-a-mlle in 53 3-ss. Over a similar distance Golden Blonde proved too good Tor Abbess of Whitby in 51 2-ss. Big Dook trotted round to tho half-mile post and ran home in 52 3-5. ire was not kicked out r at any part of It. Shu Over Five. After running the first two furlongs in 25 4-5 s Shu was timed to complete five rurlongs In 1.7. Although he was ridden out at the finish It was a good performance as he Is a particularly lazy track worker. Silver Streak reeled off hair-a-mile In 51 2-ss. He worked very evenly and looks a fit hprsc. After traversing the nrst two furlongs In 255, Legatee got to the end or five In 1.4 3-5, time which was beaten only once during the morning. Tills three-year-old Is a very good galloper. Valmlnt gave Gemland several lengths start at the seven rurlong post and heat her very easily, being timed" to run the last six rurlongs In 1.23.
