TE RAPA TRACKS. THIS MORNING'S WORK. STAR ARTIST IN GOOD ORDER. j TEAK LOOKING WELL. (By "Martian.”) Despite the recent heavy rain the going, while dead, was in good order at Te Rapa this morning when a number of the local contingent with holiday engagements were sent along. Several pleasing efforts were recorded. The course proper, 18ft. out from the rails, was generally preferred for fast work. The inside grass was also available. Mount In Cup. J. Winder, the local lightweight, has been engaged for Gay Rose in the Auckland Cup.

Tutohen’s Team. Tutchen’s trio Adalene, Sinking Fund and Gloucester were restricted to strong pace work on the No. 1 grass. Raoette. Racette (Winder) got to the end of -six furlongs in 1.19—a useful effort for one of her class. She was accompanied over the initial half-mile by the Little England—Sante Fe gelding in 52 2-ss. Star Artist. Star Artist (Goulsbro) who is looking a picture of condition, hit out alone over live furlongs, being timed to negotiate the distance in 1.4. She ran her first three furlongs in 375, the half-mile in 51s and was pulling up at the six furlong peg in 1.20. It was altogether a fins effort and Julian’s charge should make a bold bid for sprint honours next week at Ellerslie providing the tracks remain reasonably firm. Light Comedy—Du Barry. Light Comedy (Bowden), accompanied by Du Barry (Goulsbro) over the first five got to the end of six furlongs in 1-21 2-5, the first three furlongs In 38s, the half-mile in 53s and the five furlongs in 1.7. Both are in good trim > for engagements at Auckland. It was stated by Julian this morning that there was every probability of both Du Barry and Star Artist contesting the Railway Handicap. In the event of a soft track the ■stable jwould probably rely on Du Barry. An Improved Horse. One of the most improved horses at Te Rapa at present is Teak who is now a much better horse for his racing at the Takapuna meeting at Ellerslie last month where he won on either day. This morning carrying over 10.0 on the. No. 1 grass he dashed over three furlongs in 375, running his first furlong in 11 4-ss. He is engaged in the Robinson Handicap on the first day of the Auckland carnival and should prove one of tht hardest to dispose of. He will be ridden by R. Horne on the first day.

King Rey. King Rey (Day) was sent a mile and a-quarter, hitting out freely to clock 2.19 for the distance. The Auckland Cup candidate is bearing a healthy appearance and it will not be for lack of condition if he fails to give a good account of himself next week. He will be ridden in the Auckland Cup by R. Reed. A Pleasing Effort. A pleasing effort over half a mile was credited to the unraced Little England r.are who ran the distance in 535. Queen’s Council. Queen’s Council was going well within herself throughout half a mile in 555. She could have improved on the effort. * Lion Heart. Lion Heart (McKenzie) finished several lengths In front of Royal Mistake (Lawson) at the completion of five furlongs cut out in 1.5 2-5, the first three ’furlongs in 37s and the half a mile in 5245. Boughal Over Half. The best half-mile of the morning was credited to the big Acre gelding Boughal (Day) who dashed over half a mile in 50s. Boughal, who is engaged on the latter days of the Auckland Summer Carnival Is in excellent heart. Prince of Orange. Prince of Orange (Cotter) went once round in 2.7. He is looking well. Orac Over Six. Orac (Day) was timed to run six furlongs in 1.20, the first half-mile in 544 s and the live furlongs in 1.7*. Orac and Lucidus will leave to-mor-row morning by float for New Plymouth to fulfil engagements at the Taranaki Christmas meeting. Calcutta. Calcutta (McKenzie) left half a mile behind in 55 i-ss. Calcutta will be having his first start for a considerable spell at the Pirongia meeting on Boxing Day. Whirling. Whirling (Goulsbro) negotiated five furlongs in 1.0. This member of Julian's string lias been working consisteSKly well over llie past several weeks and should strip in good order for engagements aheadWahine Reihl’s Effort. Wahine Reihi (Winder) dashed over half a mile in 50 l-ss. Wahine Reihi, wiio is one of the most consistent track workers we have here is not engaged until the last day at Auckland. She will need to enter calculations in whatever she starts. She is looking as well as ever she did and has benefited from recent racing. A Smart Three. Gay Streak (Gilmer) brushed over three furlongs along the back in 365. Grand Score Schooled. Grand Score (J. Smith) was schooled over four hurdles and gave a satisfactory exhibition. Grand Score is to make his debut as a hurdler at Taranaki next week and interest will attach to his showing. He is to have the services of the Te Rapa hurdle horseman, J. Smith. A Useful Round. Carshnlton (Day) and Trouvaille (McMahon) finished practically on terms over a round.encompassed in 2.5, iho first six furlongs in f .2045. Full, of Scotch (Gilmer) who went off with Iho pair was several lengths behind I hem at lixo post. For horses of their class Ihe exhibition of Ciirshalton and Trouvaille was a highly satisfactory one.
