ARSON CHARGES
TWO MEN REMANDED. PALMERSTON NORTH CASES. SUPPRESSION OF NAMES REFUSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ Friday. Though an order suppressing their names had been made by Mr J. Stout S.M., on their first appearance before the Magistrate’s Court, the renewal of this wa-s refused when the tw r o men were remanded by Justices of the Peace to-day on charges of arson. _ Accused were Ilarrold Hales Hutchison, commission agent aged 39, and Douglas llcnrv Baker, labourer, aged 50. 'file former was charged with wilfully setting lire to a dwelling at 128 College Street. The latter was charged with wilfully setting lire to the Makotuku Hotel. When the Bench announced their refusal lo suppress the names after a further remand was granted, counsel asked I Item lo reconsider their decision, hut after a. brief retirement the Bench decided to adhere lo llteir refusal of suppression.
