“GOING SMOOTHLY.”
YEBTERDAY'B CONFERENCE. . STATEMENT BY MR DAVY. (By TeleErrapn.—-press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. “ Everything is going smoothly and the spirit of sweet reasonableness is prevailing,” said Mr A. E. Davy, Dominion organiser of the Democrat Party, when interviewed at the luncheon adjournment of the, conference to-day. He indicated that the conference would he sitting this afternoon and evening and a statement possibly would be issued to-morrow.' Mr T. C. A. Ilis.lop presided again today and Dr. Adams, of Wanganui, is deputy-chairman. . Sir A. Herdman Absent. Sir Alexander Herdman, ft is gathered, did not attend the conference 10-day. Asked if Sir Alexander had been invited, Mr Davy replied: “That question is disallowed." Mr Davy was also questioned about the withdrawal of a number of Democrat delegates, when Mr . Forbes was speaking at the Town Hall last night. He made it clear that the reason was that they did not desire to toe associated with the rowdy element responsible for the interruptions.
