WHITES AND BLACKS.
INTER-MARRIAGE FAVOURED.
MR BERNARD SHAW’S OPINION,
TO SOLVE AFRICAN PROBLEM
United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received June 11, 12.55 p.m.) LONDON, June 10. Mr George Bernard Shaw, just home from a trip to'South Africa, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph, advocates the inter-marriage of the white and black populations, which will enable South Africa's whites to solve a vital problem on which its very existence, depends. lie said it is a serious question whether the whites can survive in South Africa’s sunshine. While Mr Shaw was there the Minister of Railways appealed for immigrants, as necessary to keep up the white population. The whites in the United Slates are normally fertile, but the South African whites are not even so when they are‘desiring children. Possibly there is too much sunshine for people with white skins, and it is probable the remedy is to darken skins by inter-marriage with blacks. A mixture of two colours may solve South Africa's problem.
