(Received June 11, 10.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, June 10. The tensity of the situation in Northern China has been greatly relieved, since it is evident that the Chinese desire for a peaceful solution cannot fail to impress even the extremist Japanese military. The Chinese agreed to most of the Japanese demands, Including the closing of the Peiping political training department, which the Japanese maintained was prejudicial to their interests.
' Scenes of tremendous activity were witnessed at Peiping as the Third Gendarme Regiment was withdrawn, in accordance with the Japanese demands.
it seems that only two demands were not fulfilled —the removal of all the Kuominlang offices and all the Central Government troops from Hepei. If these are obeyed it is believed that the threatened ultimatum by the Japanese will not he delivered.
