EVICTION FROM HOMES. POSITION IN CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Protests against the eviction of returned soldiers from their houses and properties were made at the annual meeting last night of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association. A motion was carried urging the Incoming executive to do Its utmost to see that all returned men who had purchased homes In boom times should be given every assistance to retain them. The meeting also carried resolutions requesting the associations headquarters to endeavour to obtain from the Canteen Funds Board at least'£2s,ooo ,and from the War Funds Council £20,000 for tho relief of unemployed returned soldiers during the next”l2 months. Support was given to a resolution that, in view of returning prosperity, Ihe Government should restore cuts in economic and dependants’ pensions.
