Seventeen were killed and 41 Injured, many gravely, when the Detrolt-Toronto express travelling at 60 miles an hour followed an open swltoh and orashed Into an excursion train on a siding seven miles from Hamilton.
Three carriages were telescoped. It was difficult to extricate the bodies. The crew worked for two hours with acetylene torches in an attempt to free one man who was pinned In a sitting position.
