CHRISTMAS IN AFRICA
JOYOUS SEASON INDICATED RACIAL HARMONY RESTORED. PARTICIPATION IN PROSPERITY. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received Dec. 24, 2.30 p.m.) CAPETOWN, Deo. 23. South Africa Is preparing to celebrate what is anticipated will be the merriest Christinas for many years. The restoration of racial harmony combined with general prosperity originating in the goldfields, has stimulated buoyancy, in which even the farmers who suffered much during the recent depression, are now sharing. Record Christmas mails by sea and air, inwards and outwards, heighten the general goodwill, and one of the best Christmas gifts is the mysterious disappearance of immense swarms of 'locusts which have been threatening large areas of country. Record crowds of holidaymakers from England are pouring in to the Cape Peninsular, where brilliant sunshine prevails. South Africa also is looking forward to participating in the great Empire broadcast exchange of ’ Christmas greetings.
