DWELLING DESTROYED.
OWNER'S’ HEAVY LOSS.

TE KUITI, Monday
A six-roomed residence, owned and occupied by Mr. William Finlay, farmer, of Oparure, was totally destroyed by fire on Saturday morning. Mrs. Finlay, who had been baking, left the house with her daughter to go across the farm to the garden. Seeing smoke she hurriedly returned and found the house in flames. If was impossible to cave any of the effects. Mr Finlay arrived in time to push a motor-car from the shed to safety) the garage being saved by the wind blowing in the opposite direction. All the contents of the house ineluding clothing and personal elfects were destroyed. The building was insured in the State Fire Office for £3'so and the furniture for £250. The owners have suffered heavy loss.
