TRANSPORT LICENSES.

CONSIDERATION OF RENEWALS. AUTHORITY MEETS IN HAMILTON. Further applications for the renewal of passenger service licenses were considered by the No. 3 Licensing Authority at the continuation of its sitting in Hamilton yesterday afternoon. Associated with the chairman (Mr E. L. Walton) w-ere Messrs J. G. Cliff-McCulloch and F. J. Farrell. Renewals were subject to the general amendment that children under three years should be carried free and over three and not exceeding 12 years at half-fares.

The applicatioii of Buses, Ltd. (Mr W. J. King) for renewal of the con-tinuous-service licenses between Ngaruawahia and Hamilton, Frankton and Hamilton, and Hamilton East and Hamilton ware'granted, while the company’s application for the renewal of the Claudelands-Hamilton license was also approved and permission given to deviate the route so that the Claudelands buses might serve the Five Cross Roads locality;

Mr W. Dunn (represented by Mr King) made application for the renewal of his licenses for continuous passenger services from Hood Street to Ulster Street and Hood Street to the Waikato Hospital respectively. Both applications were approved.

FURTHER APPLICATIONS GRANTED

Further applications for renewal of passenger service licenses were considered by the No. 3 District Licensing Authority to-day. Mr. E. L. Walton presided and associated with him were Messrs. J. G. Cliff McCulloch and F. J. Farrell.

A renewal of his passenger license from Taupiri to Hamilton w r as granted' to Mr. A. McKee.

S. J. Phillips was granted a renewal of his license to carry passengers between Kalhere and Morrinsville.

Cambridge to Hamilton

Buses, Ltd-, were granted a renewal of their license to carry passengers from Cambridge to Hamilton, with several alterations. The 5.45 p.m. bus from Hamilton was altered to leave at 6 p.m. The early bus which left Cambridge at 6.0 a.m. on Saturdays and Mondays will now leave at 6.10 a.m. on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays. Buses, Ltd., were granted a renewal of their passenger license between Pukemiro, ancl Hamilton, via Glen Massey, with the following amended time-tables: from Pukemiro to leave at 8.15 a.m.; 3.30 p.m. from Hamilton to 3.0 p.m. L._ Hodgson’s traffic license between Hamllton-Pirongia-Te Awamutu was renewed, and proposed reductions In fares were agreed to.

OVER-RULED BY AUTHORITY.

AUCKLAND, Wednesday

The decision of the No. 2 Transport Licensing authority was given to-day in a case of considerable local importance. A company which operates a bus service to the northern suburbs of Glen Eden and Henderson sought a renewal of Its license.

Thee Railway Department urged that restrictions be imposed, particularly that buses be not allowed to stop within a quarter of a mile of the railway stations concerned. In announcing its decision the authority said it was satisfied that the company was catering for a very substantial volume of traffic, with which at present the Railway Department was not in touch.

It renewed the company’s license.
