PIGS DYING MORE RAPIDLY
DEPARTMENT’S GRAVE CONCERN.
WORKERS DEMAND EXTRA PAY
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The relief workers decided to dig trenches to bury diseased pigs. Instead of going to the job this morning they sent two deputations, containing delegates from all the relief jobs, to the Unemployment Bureau and the Agricultural Department, demanding dirt money in addition to the ten shillings a day being paid. No digging is proceeding. It is reported that pigs are dying with increased rapidity to-day, and the position is causing the Department grave concern.
