AT FRANKTON YARDS.

BEEF QUOTATIONS FIRM

SHEEP AND PIGS STEADY,

There was a good yarding of ox and cow beef at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton Yards yesterday, the aualitv being first-class. Quotations were firm at late rates. Sheep were also penned in large numbers, and last week’s values were maintained. There was a good yarding of fat and store pigs and here again prices showed little alteration. The Farmers Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited, report: At the weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards, we had a heavy yarding of all classes of tat sheep and a medium yarding of store sheep. Wethers came forward in usual numbers, and prices remained unchanged. A heavier entry of fat ewes was penned, these also selling at late rates. An exceptionally heavy yarding of fat lambs was penned, our entry totalling 597. Prices were very firm at a. slight advance on export rates. A good entry of store sheep, comprising chiefly hoggets, changed hands at late,ruling values. Cattle: Ox beef again came forward in good supply, late quotations being maintained. Cow and heifer was also yarded in heavy numbers, but the quality was'hardly up to recent yardings, however, values remained unaltered.

Pigs: A very heavy yarding of fat pigs met with keen competition for baconers, values remaining firm to tho conclusion of the sale. Porker prioes were slightly firmer than they have been for the last few sales; ohoppers also met with"* a better market, while stored and weaners remained on a par with late rates. Cattle: Ox beef, of which the majority was small and medium conditioned cattle, was yarded in large, numbers and on these steady competition ruled with values on a par with late rates being recorded. An entry of fat cows equally as large as last week’s met with the same reception and many vendors- were reluctant to meet the market. There was practically no change in the store cow values. Prime bullocks, £5 15s to £6 12s 6d; medium, £4 15s to £5 10s; lighter, £4 7s 6d to £4 15s; poorer, £3 15s to £4 ss; prime quality cows, £2 10s to £3; medium, £2 2s to £2 8s; lighter, £1 15s to £2; killable, £1 9s to £1 14s; forward stores, £1 3s to £1 7s 6d; medium, 15s to £1 2s; others to 14s; good vealers, £1 Ss to £1 15s; medium, 15s to £1 4s. Sheep: There was a plentiful supply of ewe and.wether mutton, and strong competition kept prices fully up to late quotations. Wethers in some cases improved slightly. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly stock sale yesterday, as under:—

Sheep.— Full yarding of Tat sheep came forward and sold at fully up to late rates. Medium weight. wethers, 11s 7d to lis Gd; lighter fat wethers, 10s Gd lo 11s Gd: heavy fat ewes, 7s 9d to 8s Gd; light fat ewes. Messrs. C. W. Vercoe and Co. Ltd., report having held their stock sale at Frankton yesterday, when a large yarding of sheep came forward. Competition throughout on all classes was fairly-keen and prices remained fully equal to those of the previous week. Heavy fat wethers sold up to 15s 3d; lighter fat wethers,. 13s 6d to 14s; light, 12s 9d to 13s 3d; prime fat maiden ewes, to 13s 3d; fat ewes, to 8s Gd; killable ewes, 4s to Gs 3d; heavy fat iambs, 12s Gd to 13s lOd; lighter. 11s to 12s 3d; light, 10s to 10s Pd; store lambs, lo 7s.

Cattle: Ox anil cow beef were penned in large numbers. Ox beef remained practically on a par with last week’s quotations, while cow and heifer beef were dull of sale. On account of a client and purchased by Mr. W. R. Shattock, 5 extra prime Polled Angus and Hereford bullocks realised £7 per piece, this being the top price of the market.
