HOSPITAL LEVY.
SYSTEM OF RATING.
PROTEST BY WAITOMO COUNTY
TE KUITI, Saturday.
A protest against the system of rating for hospitals was made at a meeting of the Waltomo County Council yesterday. The Waikato Hospital Board advised that the levy due from the County Council for the ensuing year was £lßl3, an increase of £29 over last year’s amount. Membors of the council considered that the present system was inequitable, One stated that the amount payable by the To Kuitl Borough Council was £395, while the County Council was called upon to pay nearly £2OOO. There was no complaint against the administration of the Waikato Hospital Board, but against the principle, as it was contended the present method of raising money for 'Wspital administration was operating unfairly on rural districts. It was resolved that the protest tie forwarded to the board.
