INSPECTOR DEBARRED. 'SOCIETY’S STRONG PROTEST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Saturday. A strong protest was made To-day by the chairman of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children against the action of the Children’s Court in refusing to allow the society’s woman inspector to attend proceedings. The inspector this morning was Ordered out by a Justice of the Peace who presided over the Court. The chairman of the society (the Rev. P. S. Smallfleld) quoted a letter from the Minister of Justice saying: “Any person' representing a social welfare agency ol* engaged in work for the welfare of children lias the right to attend any proceedings of the Children’s Court." ! The Justice of the Peace explained that the Magistrate (Mr E. C. Cutten, S.M.). who was in chcarge of the Court, but was at present abroad, had given a certain ruling, and he had no alternative but to follow it.
