GREAT SOUTH ROAD.
SECTION NEAR MERCER.
BITUMINOUB WORK APPROVED.
PUKEKOHE, Wednesday,
A proposal to surface a further mile of the Great South Road, from the .Mercer town district boundary northward, with bituminous penetration, was submitted to the Franklin County in a communication received from Mr F. S. Dyson, Auckland representative of the Main Highways Board. The council decided to inform the board that it was agreeable to the suggested work being done under conditions outlined in the agreement existing between the council and the board.
Reporting on the condition of the Great South Road between Papakura and the Bombay deviation, the engineer advised that the work of reconditioning, in accordance with proposals, had been completed and metal was being laid where required under the expenditure of ordinary maintenance. .
