CLAY BIRD SHOOTING.

HAMILTON CLUB’S EVENTS*FIELD DAY AT RUAKtfRA. MANY VISITING COMPETITORS. The Hamilton Gun Club held a field day at Ruakura yesterday. The weather was reasonably good, with -occasional showers, a tricky breeze adding a little hazard to the shooting. The outstanding event of the day was a teams match between “Veterans” and “Youngsters” of Auckland and South Auckland -clubs. A representative entry of competitors participated. In welcoming the visiting shooters and others, the president of the Hamilton club, Mr. W. J. Aitlcen, expressed pleasure at seeing so many visiting sportsmen from Auckland. Detailing the circumstances, Mr. Aitlcen also expressed the grateful thanks of the local -clubs -to Mr. Frank Seccombe, of Auckland, and to New Zealand Breweries, Limited, for donating the two beautiful and valuable engraved trophies and for making the shoot possible. The difficult task of organising the 'teams was ably carried out by Messrs. W. Woolven (Veterans), and C. Seddon (Youngsters). Lunohon and afternoon tea arrangements were very ably attended to by Mrs. Woolven. * After the shooting was concluded Mr. Aitlcen presented the trophies and called for three cheers for winners and donors.

The trophies for the teams were shot off to determine the Individual holders by means of a further 15-bird match off tho 16 yard mark, with the following results:— Veterans. —11. Clinch 15, F. Seccombe retired, R. Bartley 14, W. Aitlcen retired, W. Grant 14, J. Amundsen 14, G. Peach retired , J. Wright 13, J. Milne retired, W. Gribble 14, D. Fraser 13, I. Lomas retired, W. Woolven retired. As the aggregate score in both ■matches was ugreed upon, the “Youngsters’ ” trophy was won outright by G. O. Rae with two possibles. 11. Clinch, W. Grant, ami .1. Amunsden with one miss each, drew equal for the, Veterans' trophy and shot off on “first miss out” principle. Grant lost the seventh bird and Amunsden the 10th, leaving 11. Clinch Hie winner.
