Referring to the complaint that certain Arms "handling New Zealand butter were offering largo quantities on the London market below current values, a local member of the Dairy Board stated that since there was no compulsory marketing the board had no say. Certainly forward selling of big holdings would force prices down. However, the consignors gave the agents definite handling instructions k , and it appeared that Ihe board could not Interfere. A representative of a large selling agency stated that most of the sensational statements on forward sales wore, made on behalf of controllisls. but he hoped New Zealand had had Rufllcionl of the disastrous experience of a controlled market. The selling agents sold forward when there ‘was in anticipated market drop.
TE AROHA WEST FACTORY. DECREASE IN ADVANCES. (Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Monday. As' showing that the present low fates on the London market for dairy produce are affecting even contract prices ttic suppliers to the Te Aroha West factory, after receiving advances of .11 }d per lb for butter-fat for seven months of the present season, last week received only lOd per lb for tiio March supply. The suppliers, although surprised, are accepting the position philosophically. and hoping Ihat the final payment after the end of the season will satisfactorily balance the matter financially. The supply of milk for choose manufacture lo Iho factory is much larger Ilian at this lime lust year, that of March for .'ll days equalling that of February for US days.
