THREE PRISONERS ESCAPE
ONE RE-CAPTURED IN BUSH. Three prisoners escaped from the Kaikune prison sub-camp at Whisky Greek, 16 miles south of Turangl, Lake Taupo, on Friday morning. They were:—Eugene Charles Dominic McCarthy, aged 25, who was sentenced at Wellington on April 7, 1932, to three years’ reformative detention for breaking, entering and theft; Basil Hodgson, aged 26, serving a two years’ sentence; and Vincent Barney Reardon, aged 30, sentenced at Palmertson North on February 19, 1933, to two years’ reformative detention. Reardon was recaptured in the bush in the vicinity of Waiouru, yesterday. It is thought the other men also are In the bush in this area.
