THE WORLD’S POPULATION.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Dr. E. C. Brewls in his interesting address at -the Hamilton Luncheon Club on “Personal Identification” is reported as stating that the I population of the known world is com- | puted at 16,000,000,000 (sixteen billion). This.seems a most incredible figure. It would be interesting to know how the doctor arrives at his conclusions. Authorities from time to time have stated that the estimated number of human beings born on the earth since the days of Adam and Eve oan be placed at -some 20,000,000,000 (twenty billion), of which there are now living just under 2,000,000,000 (two billion). Would some of your -many correspondents kindly give us some light on this most interesting subject.—l am, etc., W. ATKINSON. Frankton Junction, July 30, .1932.
