AROHENO CAMP.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—May I be permitted to extend my sincere congratulations to the relief wo-rker who, since being at Aroheno, 'has -supported -his -wife and family in Hamilton, paid for his weekly rations at Aroheno -and saved siufficient to -move his family back with •him to a camp that seems to have been a bone of contention with quite a- number. - But it Is the bungalow that our friend is building that interests m.e most. Personally,. I think that any man, who can in a few short weeks maintain 'two homes and save .sufficient -money to buy -a bungalow or material to build one is wasted on relief work, l and I am very certain that quite a targe percentage of Hamilton relief workers would be willing to ■pay say, one shilling -weekly out of their meagre earnings for our worthy friend to show them the way to just simply, ‘balance their budget without saving anything towards -building anything different from. a. tent with boarded walls and floors!. Our friend’s covert sneer at local unemployed and their assistance from the Waikato Social Welfare .League cannot be allowed to pass without comment. He is surely aware that all cases assisted by the Welfare Teague—thank God for such a body I—are personally investigated. Assistance is not -given to undeserving cases.—l am, etc., AMAZED.
