REPUBLICAN TERRORISM. ORANGE MEETINGS FRUSTRATED TROOPS CALLED OUT. RAILWAYS INTERFERED WITH. United Press Aten.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Aug. 13, 12.15 p.m.) BELFAST, Aug. 12. Republican terrorism frustrated the plans of the Orangemen of Oavan and Monaghan to celebrate the relief of Derry. The situation was so ugly that Free State troops wore called up by wireless. Catholic youths promptly tone up the tracks of the Great Northern Railway In order to prevent special trains with Orange demonstrators reaching ths meeting place on Ooote HUI. All roads converging on Ooote Hill wens blocked by hugs trees, and trenches wore hurriedly out during the night. All Orange flags and emblems were burnt. There Is great alarm throughout a wide district. The Orangemen, In order to avert bloodshed, abandoned the meetings. Republican action Is obviously a retort to the Police Bill aimed at the suppression of outrages and Illegal drilling. Large bodies of Catholic youtha, armed with hurley sticks, marched on Ooote Hill, and others travelled In commandeered lorries and motor oars. Some parties blew up the railway bridge and took up positions to prevent the Orangemen from coming In In thousands. At dawn when the Olvll Guards arrived the Catholics bolted. A number have been arrested.
