The President, General Gerardo Machado, has placed the' whole of Cuba under martial law as reports of Increased rebel activities have reached Havana, in spite of the very strict censorship. Advices from the Santa Clara Province stated that 300 revolutionaries had invaded Santa Clara City, killed 30 soldiers and imprisoned 25 others and retired before the arrival of Army reinforcements.
Several other interior towns are reported to be under rebel control after sanguinary skirmishes.
