The New Zealand University Rugby footballers to-day beat Western Districts at Orange by 24 points to 7. The scorers were Mackay (two), McKenzie (two), McCurdy (one), and Peacock (one), tries; McKechnie, Ewart and Maclcay, goals. The ground was sodden. The visitors excelled in all departments of the game. The weight, combination and condition of the forwards and the fleetness of the backs were responsible for their half-time lead of 21 to 0.
The s”econd half was more evenly contested, though the New Zealanders were not pressed, each side gaining a try. A Western Districts full-back kicked a field goal.
