LAID BETS AT ELLERSLIE. GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE FINED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Monday. Caught laying totalisalor odds on Ellerslie Racecourse on Saturday, Harry McChrystal was to-day lined £5. The police stated that the man is a Government employee and apparently took bets in his spare time. There had been a number of complaints of men taking bets on tiie. racecourse. “When they get a live-shilling tote it will stop this sort of thing,” said the Magistrate, Mr Hunt.
