INEXPENSIVE ACID DROPS
Acid drops are simple to makgf( and are inexpensive too. All that is required is Jib of granulated sugar, 1 gill of water, and }oz tartaric acid. Take a clean saucepan, place the sugar in and gradually add the water. Stir until it boils, and as soon as this happens stop stirring. From time to time test this in cold water to discover when it is crisp. When it cracks on being pressed between the finger and thumb it is done. Pour it out on to a cold slab, work the tartaric acid in, and make it into drops with a blunt knife while still hot.
