CUT IN WAGES.
WILL THE MINERS STRIKE? DIFFERENCE OF OPINION. STOP-WORK MEETINGS HELD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Miners’ stop-work meetings were held to-day to consider the wage-cut order. The State miners, by a majority of twenty, voted against the strike. Dobson agreed to abide by the decision of the National Council. Reefton decided in favour of a strike. COOKS AND STEWARDS. MAY SEEK EXEMPTION. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The Auckland Federated Cooks and Stewards’ Union is calling a special meeting of members to consider a motion suggesting an application to the Arbitration Court for exemption from the wages cut. Officials of the union declined yesterday to discuss the grounds on which it would base its claim.
