He has asked to be enrolled in the 55th. battalion of the Fascists. “ I swear to serve the Duce with my whole life,” he said in a telegram to the Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini. This action has greatly increased his popularity and removed fears regarding his nationality, which had arisen owing to a report that he had become a naturalised Frenchman. Camera is being greatly feted everywhere. When he arrived at his birthplace, Spilim-bergo, scores of girls pictubesquely dressed in the national costume, escorted him to the town hall for a banquet.
