FARMERS’ UNION.
WOMEN’S DIVISION. The Hamilton branch will hold its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 4, at the Y.M.G.A. Rooms. The main item of business will be the discussion of remits for conference. The Bush Nurse and Housekeepers Auxiliary held, their meeting at Palmerston North on Tuesday, October 21, the Dominion president, Mrs Jackson, presiding over many representatives from surrounding branches. The secretary reported 40 housekeepers employed, two new ones being supplied by the Wanganui branch this week. Travelling expenses of the women’s devision housekeepers came in for a good deal of discussion. Advisory!, members .were asked to attend to all complaints in connection with housekeepers or employers of their own branches. This, at times, takes a great deal of time and tact. Through the invitation of the Central Otago and Southland executives, Professor Strong, of Otago University, most graciously extended the hospitality of Studholme House to the Women’s Division, ' Farmers’ Union, for their January meeting. It is pointed out that this hospitality would help with expenses, and is much ap-
preciated. The tab preserving rings invented by one of our members, Mrs Somerville, of Okoia, are in great demand, Southland branch sending in an order for 80 dozen. The Book Club, with headquarters at Wanganui, has collected large numbers of books, .but each month-new subscribers ' join, 30 joining last month, so that the librarian is always pleased to get more books. The New Zealand Dairy Produce Exporter had recently’ made a donation of several hundred books to the club. Many letters of appreciation were received from people to whom books were sent.
