FATALITY AT CROSSING.
CAR STRUCK BY TRAIN. WOMAN KILLED. ANOTHER - SERIOUSLY INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Tress Association.) HOKITIKA, Thursday. When a train from Ross was entering the Hokitika station this afternoon it struck a motor-car 'driven by Mr Paul Renton at the Weld Street ■crossing. The car was partially wrecked. Four ladies were in the car besides the driver. Mrs and Miss Oates were seriously injured and both were removed to the hospital, where Mrs Oates died some three hours later. .Miss Oates suffered facial and other injuries, and it is feared will lose the sight' of one eye, having already lost the other eye. She is in a serious condition. The. other passengers are suffering from shock- The driver was hot hurt. The late Mrs Oates was mother-in-law of Dr. Hopkins, late of Hamilton. Deceased only arrived in the Dominion by the ltangitata, a few weeks ago. .
