CORONATION CEREMONY*. DUKE OF. GLOUCESTER’S ARRIVAL. YVARAI WELCOAIE EXTENDED. i (omcial Wireless.) RUGBY, uctober 29. The- Duke of' Gloucester arrived yesterday at Addis Ababa, the capital of Abyssinia. He was welcomed by the Emperor, Tafari, who awaited the arrival of his special train, seated on a portable throne in the waiting room at the station. . -The Duke, while making the journey of. 400 miles through French Somaliland, and Abyssinia, had been ■greeted by many officials and chieftains, and from the frontier had been accompanied by the Emperor’s cousin.
The scenes at Addis Ababa were dignified and impressive. Diplomats and Court officials in uniform awaited the Duke on the platform.' A native band played the Ethiopian and British National Anthems. Thousands of people lined the decorated streets on the way to the palace of the former Empress, which the Duke will occupy during his visit.
