REPRESENTATIONS TO RUSSIA. THIRD ACTIVITIES. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 29. The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr Arthur Henderson, was asked in the House of Commons if he could state the conclusions reached by •the special committee set up to inquire into propaganda by the Third (Communist) International in Britain, India, Egypt and the Dominions, and what, action the Government was taking/in the matter. Air Henderson replied that as a result of ‘the inquiry he had seen the Russian Ambassador, Air Sokolnikoff, and had represented to him that his Government had not been observing the pledge against propaganda exchanged last year. , “ i asked the Ambassador to impress seriously on his Government that a ' continuation of propaganda was calculated to endanger our relations,” said the Minister. “ The Ambassador assured me that his Government had done, and would continue to do, all in its power to observe the pledge.” Mr Henderson added, however, that the Government could not control the activities of the International.
