WRESTLING.

HAMILTON ASSOCIATION. THE COMMITTEE AT WORK. During the latter part of .last week a Wrestling Association was formed in Hamilton. Last evening the executive committee held a full and enthusiastic meeting, over which Mr C. A. Mathieson presided. , A letter from the. Y.M.G.A. asking for assistance to stage an exhibition bout between two good opponents at a gymnastic display was held over until a later meeting. Mr R. T. Reid, patron -of the Hamilton Association and a member of the executive council of the New Zealand Association, reported that his executive would guarantee the local association £3O to assist it in its initial outlay. Opening the Season. Lengthy and optimistic discussion took place regarding the arrangements for the staging of the first bouts • in Hamilton, and it was deoided that a Thursday evening during November would be the most suitable time. The arranging with two of the best professional wrestlers to provide the star turn was entrusted to Mr Roid, who was asked, also to procure the services of a proficient referee for this match, In speaking to this Mr J. Blackhall stressed the importance of the efficiency of the referee -as being essential for the success of the evening, Mr Reid supporting the remarks. It was suggested that besides the professional match, five amateur bouts should be provided, and Messrs A. Newton, H. Galbraith and F. Williams were elected a committee to arrange for these. Mr Blackhall contended that two local men might he procured to referee the amateurs, and it was finally decided, on the motion of Messrs I. W. St.-Clair and G. Dent, to ask Messrs F. Findlay and F. Williams to act. Officials Appointed. Mr-W. Fenton was appointed -announcer. An advertising and printing committee, comprising Messrs W. Christie, C. Rabone and J. ' Blackhall was elected. The Boxing Association .is to be asked for the loan of its ring gear. Membership was limited by the general meeting to fifty, but the committee now finds itself with applications far in excess of this number, and it was therefore decided, on the proposal of Messrs Rabone -and’ SI. Clair, to accept as members all those already financial, and to close the list when the required number became financial. The committee will meet again next Thursday evening.
