MR SCULLIN IN LONDON.
FAITH IN THE EMPIRE. ADMIRATION FOR MR MACDONALD United Press assk.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, Oct. 22. The Prime Minister of Australia, Ir J. 11. Scullin, addressed the iational Trades Union Club to-day. ie said he was not a “flag-wagger,” .evertheiess, he strongly believed in ne unity of the British Common-,-ealth of Nations. He had come to the Imperial Conerence representing a nation, not a >olitical party. He had not come to iictate or to tell Britons they must hange their methods because they ,vere different from those of Australia, but his chief object was to knit •loser the bonds of friendship and .ympathy. Mr Scullin said he believed they could come closer along trade lines, .hiding markets for each other’s manufactures. He had been an onlooker from afar at European movements and had not always felt that diplomacy of Britain or foreign Powers was right, but he felt that Britain stood higher in the estirnaiion of the people of the world than ever owing to her Labour Government’s wonderful lead toward disarmament and world peace. It was the most genuine move In British history. .For that reason he raised his hat to Mr MacDonald and his colleagues.
