ROUND THE GREENS. PROGRAMME FOR SATURDAY. The following programme will be observed to-morrow on the various local bowling greens: Hamilton. Opening Day. Whitlora. Ordinary Club draw; rinks will visit Hamilton and Iluntly Clubs. Frankton. Ordinary draw; rinks will visit Hamilton and Huntly Clubs. Frankton Railway. SMITK-CLARKE SHIELD. THE DRAW ANNOUNCED. A draw for the right to play Huntly the holders of the Smith Clarke Shield, resulted in Hamilton East drawing the first match. Other clubs in the draw are named in order of priority: Te Awamutu, Glen Massey, Frankton Railway, Taupiri, Ngaruawahia, Cambridge. Intor-Club Games. TE AWAMUTU CLUB. LABOUR DAY TOURNAMENT. Mr R. Noonan (president) presided at the meeting of the Te Awamutu Bowling Club execulive. One honorary member was elected, and the resignation • of Rev. W. Butterworth (who is leaving the district) was accepted with regret. The secretary was instructed to write to the South Auckland Association stating that Te Awamutu did not compete in the Smith-Clarke Shield competition last season owing to climatic conditions. Three new members, Messrs J. B. Hutchinson, C. M. West and R. G. Hodges, were elected. Reports indicated that everything is well forward in connection with the full-rink one-day tournament to be held on Monday (Labour Day). Twenty teams have nominated, as under: —■ Te Awamutu.—S. H. OTAGO OPPOSES PROPOSAL. (By Telegraph.—l’ress Association.) DUNEDIN, Thursday. The Otago Rowing Association decided to oppose the invitation to a New South Wales eight to visit New Zealand this season, on account of the present financial stress.
