WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MONTHLY MEETING AT WAINGARO. The monthly meeting of the Waingaro Women’s Institute was held this month at Mrs Darrow’s residence. There was a full attendance, Mrs Picken presiding. Business in connection with the Dominion conference, Winter Show, Manufacturers’ Association, and League of Nations occupied the greater part of the time. The president was elected a delegate to the Dominion conference to be held in Wellington in October. A programme of reading, competition and community singing had been arranged, but owing to scarcity of time only part could be carried out. It has been arranged to hold an open social evening in the Public Hall on July 9, the proceeds to go to the Institute’s general fund. It is hoped that Miss Melville will be present to lecture on “New Zealand Made Goods” on behalf of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association.
Mrs Darrow and Mrs Barter were hostesses for the afternoon, and votes of thanks were accorded to them, after which the meeting closed.
