Mr David Nathalie of Auckland, is at the Hamilton Hotel. Hon. Sir Charles Statham, Speaker of the House of Representatives, is at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr Will Hutchens, of Wanganui, has been appointed judge of the vocal and instrumental sections at the Cambridge Competitions, to commence on September 29. Mr Alt'. Boyce, of Cambridge, has been appointed official accompanist. The Rev. C. B. W. Seton, vicar of Otahuhu, who has been away for some weeks on sick leave, returned to Otahuhu yesterday, and it is expected lie will resume his duties' within a few days. Dr. Brodie, Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, returned. South last evening after attending the celebration of the golden jubilee as a Marist brother of the Rev. Brother Basil, first director of Sacred Heart College, Auckland. Mr. M. IC. Mara, who has conducted the Waikato Regimental and Hamilton Municipal Band for the past two years, has resigned that position. At a meeting of the controlling committee last evening the resignation was accepted and appreciative reference was made to the steady progress the band had made under Mr Mara’s conductorshia.
