ALLEGED FRAUD.

AUCKLAND ACCOUNTANT CHARGED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Saturday. Bernard Sidney Spencer, public accountant, of 208, New’ Zealand insurance Buildings, appeared in the Police Court to answer a charge of false pretences. The charge was: ‘’That on April 23, 192 9, accused did obtain from A. A. c’orban and Company a cheque for £27 8s by means of a false pretence, by falsely representing that lie did pay the amount for income tax on behalf of the company.” The magistrate remanded accused 1.0 appear next Thursday. It was staled that further charges were pending. The magistrate fixed tho amount of bail at £IOOO, self £SOO and two sureties of £250 each.
