TOURNAMENT AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLANI), Tuesday. The amateur boxing tournament held last evening under llie auspices of the Northern Boxing Association attracted a large attendance. Following were Llie results : The opening contest was a catchweight bout between M. McKee, JOst. 1 Alb. and F. Cliffc, JOst. 81b. Cliffe, who replaced X. Bong on the programme, instead of shaking hands in the first round in the approved style, touched his opponent’s glove and drove to the head. ’l’lic audience yelled ils disapproval as the referee warned Cliffe. McKee used bis left to effect. McKee well deserved ids win for his game showing against a hardhitter. Catch-weight.—R. Martin, lOst 1 Alb., beat M. Conmee, 9st 101 b. after an interesting bout, Light-weight.—Brcntnall, 9st. 71b. beat W. Smith, iOsl. 3Jib. in a close fight. Heavy-weight.—-A, Slade, 13st. 81b., knocked out C. Galt, list. 841 b. Feather-weight.—R. Purdie, Bst. 81b., beat A. Spragg, Bst. 91b., in an excellent bout. Feather-weight.—H. Johns, Sst. 1341 b., feather-weight champion of New Zealand, beat T. Collins, 6st. 21b. Catch-weight.—C. Manson, 9st. 21b., beat G. Smith, 9st., after a fast and interesting fight. Light-weight.—F. Lindsay, lOst. Jib., beat J. Gregory (Gisborne), 9st. 101 b.
