VALEDICTORY.
FAREWELL AT TE KAUWHATA. OLD SETTLER HONOURED. A pleasant function took place at the residence of Mr. W. Anderton, Lake Road, Tc Kauwhata, when the settlers in the district met to bid farewell to Mr. E. C. Shepherd, who is giving up farming io live in Auckland. Excellent music was provided by Mrs. and Miss Grand, Mrs. Mac Scimming. and Mr. Sidney Battrum, ample refreshments being provided by the ladies. In responding to the many good wishes expressed for his future, Mr. Shepherd said that during his residence at Lake Waikare he had received nothing but kindness from bis neighbours, and was leaving with regrec lie urged those present to work together for the good of the district and hoped they would not forget him. “ Auld Lang Syne ” and “ God Save the King ” ended a memorab'e gatherUS* •
