MATAMATA PICNIC.
HIGH AND PRIMARY SCHOOLS. The annual picnic of the schools was held on Friday in Mr F. Barugh’s paddock on Tower Road. The weather was all ’that could be desired and a large number of parents and young folk spent a happy time. Following are the results of the various events — Primary School. Races for boys were won by Tommy Warrender, Bruce Barknlan, Poynder Goodall, Cyril Stewart, Wallace Tong, Colin Spinley, Leslie Scott, Ted Scherer and Henry Rogan, and for girls by Thelma Hawes, Jean McCormack, Norma Reeve,' Dorothy Steele, Ruth McCormack, Dora Cranswick, Shirley Taylor, Olive Spinley, and Eva Swinbourne; sack race by Alf. Warrender and Blanche Trundle, and a motor-tyre race by Ted Scherer. Junior High School races went to Walter Bidois and Dick Bidois,’ and for girls to Phyllis Adams (2); married ladies’ race, Mrs Barugh 1, Mrs Spence 2, Mrs Wells 3.
