TUAKAU BRIDGE.
THE WORK OF REPAIR. APPRECIATION EXPRESSED. TRIBUTE TO RAGLAN COUNTY. “I desire, as a ratepayer in the Pukekawa riding in the Raglan County, to express my appreciation for the manner in which your council handled the matter of the collapse of the Tuakau bridge and the prompt measures you took to have a temporary service established,” wrote Mr Dynes Fulton to yesterday’s meeting of the Raglan County Council. “We are often prone," the writer added, "to criticise local bodies if everything does not appear to be just as we like it, but I think where a local body has rendered service in such cases as the one in question, and where the ratepayers and the community have been at a minimum of Inconvenience, the re-erection of the long span being put through in such a short time, demands the gratification of all fair-minded ratepayers. I think the way this matter was handled reflects credit on your council, and particularly so on your engineer, Mr Wright. I would appreciate, as a ratepayer, if you would express to your engineer my appreciation of the able manner in which he handled the whole of the business.” The letter was received, and Mr Fulton is to be thanked for his appreciative reference.
