RAGLAN’S NEEDS
IMPROVING WATERFRONT. DAMAGE BY EROSION. Writing to the Raglan County Council as the harbour authority, the executive of the Raglan Progressive League drew attention in a letter read at yesterday’s meeting to the effect of tlie erosion of the sea on the breastwork and reclaimed earthwork at the Ferry Jetty at Raglan. In its present state it was very dangerous to children and a serious accident could easily happen to an adult. It was pointed out that the executive of the league was endeavouring to increase the popularity of Raglan as a seaside resort, and a large influx of visitors was expected this year. The present condition of the Ferry Jetty was regarded unfavourably, and the league asked that the matter be rectified before the holiday season commenced. , .. It was pointed out by the council yesterday that this subject had been brought before the council, when it was decided that the expenditure required was not warranted. The money could be expended more advantageously to the ratepayers. It was decided to reply along these lines. The view was expressed that this was a matter to be considered by the Raglan Town Board.
