Tennis Season. The Tennis Club opened the season in ideal weather. A large number of tennis enthusiasts and visitors from Hamilton, Ngaruawahia and Huntly attended, about 80 being present. The president, Mr E. P. Tapper, declared the courts open, and in the unavoidable absence of his wife called upon Mrs Leslie Powell to play the first ball. Personal. Mr George Pearse, of Kainui, has soid his farm to Mr A. S. Clark, of Matamata. Mr J. W. Wilson, of Rutherfurd’s road, has sold to Messrs Hodson Bros., of Wellington. Mr S. V. Bilkey, president of the Rugby Football Club and hon. secretary of the Farmers' Sports Club, has bought a property at the Bay of Islands, and intends taking up his residence there about the end of this month. He and his wife, who are enthusiastic workers in all public affairs, will be sadly missed. Mrs Ted Whitehorn, another of our popular public workers, has had to go into a private hospital at Hamilton.
