FANCY DRESS BALL.

SUCCESS AT GORDONTON. A most successful evening was held at Gordonton when the Fancy Dress Ball for the children, organised by the Committee of the local Anglican Church, attracted a very large attendance. The hall was decorated with fancy umbrellas. About 70 children attended in fancy dress, and the judges had a difficult time in awarding the various prizes. Proceedings opened with the grand march, which was deservedly applauded by the onlookers. The children had first sitting to a delightful supper provided by the ladies committee, after which dancing by the elders was indulged in to the pleasing strains of the local Maori Orchestra, extras being placed by Miss 0. Morgan. All the prizes presented were donated by the ladies’ committee. Mr 0. Clarke donating the trophies for tlie Maori section.
