Card Club. At the weekly meeting of the Card Club there was a good attendance. Cribbage and five hundred were indulged in, the winners of the prizes being:—Cribbage: Mrs Titmarsh, first, ten games; consolation, Mr E. Calleson. Five hundred: Mr Freeman, score 3950; consolation, Mrs Harrington.

Friendly Competition.

Members of the Paterangi Club will visit Ohaupo next Wednesday night to strive to beat the Ohaupo members. The honours between the two clubs are even, so some good games should eventuate. House Warming. A splendid evening was spent in the nature of a house warming to Mr and Mrs Cedric Giles, who had just returned from their honeymoon. Mr Lionel Hunt acted as master of ceremonies, and conducted the evening in a very capable manner. The usual toasts .were honoured. Songs and recitations were rendered by the intruders.

At the close of the evening Mr Giles thanked the party for their welcome, also for the good wishes tendered to his wife and himself. “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” and "Auld Lang Syne” were heartily sung, and three hearty cheers for Mr and Mrs Giles brought the evening to a close. Sickness. A large amount of sickness, mainly Influenza, is prevailing throughout the district. It is to be hoped that the weather will soon take up. Some frost and sunshine would be appreciated.
